figuring out this whole Santelli thing
Yeah I'm obsessed. People are latching onto his comments because they don't like Obama's plan. And I liked his comments because I didn't see it like that.
I saw his comments as the beginning of the uproar against the government incompetence towards the bailouts. Unfortunately the focus is on Obama instead of the Fed, Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson, and the other talking heads on his own network.
So now it's a right/left issue instead of a "people are sick of the bailout" issue which is what I was hoping it would turn into. Oh well.

Rick Santelli's Tea Party

I voted for Obama. Gave him some money. Support him on the social agenda. But as I've stated before, he's not doing well on the economic side of things. I'm becoming disenchanted with the liberal/progressive blogs that defend the Obama economic team and policies just because. It's blind ideologues just like on the right.
If a problem was created by spending too much money, you can't get out by spending more. If a problem was created by getting too far in debt, you can't get out by getting more in debt.
Conservatives are flocking to Santelli and his rant and they have no leg to stand on given their track record of the 8 years before, so don't bother me with right v. left or anything like that.
Santelli got one thing right. 60% of those being refinanced still can't make the payments.
I've watched CNBC off and on for a year now, and most of them are fiscal conservatives. It (cracks me up) disturbs me to see the left attack this guy when they ought to be going after Ludlow and Cramer and Liesman and the other idiots on the network. Santelli has been against most of the government intervention since it started a year ago, and that is rarely being pointed out. There is little if any contextual information on the other blog postings about what he says on a daily basis.
The good news at least is that the people who are really upset about all the government intervention - and how it hasn't worked yet and probably isn't going to work very much - is getting some groundswell of support.
I mean, for those of you still reading this that are Obama supporters like I am, why did he get Geithner instead of Krugman who won a Nobel Prize? Or Roubini or some other "Dr. Doom" who has been more correct about the problems lately than the mainstream economists?
Does this make me a libertarian, even if I want government sponsored healthcare?

Birthday
A big day today. I'm 29 again (32).
My Garmin Forerunner 305 decided to die today. It works when it's charging but when you take it away you can't turn it on or reset it or anything. I was all ready to go run intervals today and decided to try and get this fixed and just got frustrated. It's out of warranty and $99 to get it fixed by Garmin (!!!!) and a 90 day warranty. A refurb is $157 or so with a full year warranty, plus another heart rate strap thing. I'm probably going with a refurb or new one.
That was the only down side. The kegerator is working again. The CO2 leak appears to be fixed. My wife cooked a dinner with stealhead/rainbow trout and she bought some red velvet cake. Mmmm...
And I got my tickets today for the NCAA Regional 1st and 2nd round in Greensboro.
And my boss is out of town this week, although that's both good and bad since he's trying to demo stuff I've been working on and we need to make sure it works. It's not like it matters much when he's out of town since there are only 2 of us and I work at home...
